Born to Peter Hauri and Cynthia Cleveland, Matthew was born and raised in Rochester, Minnesota. He attended Mayo High School, where he first started getting interested in music.

Upon graduation, Matthew attended the University of Wisconsin and pursued a degree in marketing.

When his music career started taking off, he dropped everything to focus solely on making it as a rapper. He later returned to his alma mater to complete his degree and graduated in December 2017.
