Back in 2004, the talk show host flabbergasted audience members of her TV show by giving all 276 of them a new Pontiac G6 sedan worth around $28 thousand at the time.

Well, the car actually wasn’t a gift at all, although it felt like the best gift for someone. First thing, those cars were donated by Pontic themselves as the hefty price for the advertisement. Moreover, the company paid the state sales tax for all 276 cars.
One car winner said, “It’s not really a free car. It’s more of a 75 percent-off car. Of course, that’s still not such a bad deal.”
He added, Federal and state income taxes added up to about $6,000 for most of us, the winners.
