He is the son of mother June Collins and father, Greville Collins. He has an older brother Clive Collins and sister, Carole Collins.

In 1975, Phil Collins exchanged the vows with Andrea Bertorelli and divorced on 2 February 1980. They adopted a daughter Joely and were blessed with a son, Simon Collins.

After divorce with Andrea, Collins walked down the aisle with his second wife, Jill Tavelman, on 4 August 1984. They share one daughter Lily Collins. His now ex-spouse Tavelman filed for divorce in 1994 and was finalized in 1996.
