Luke Harding was in Russia from 2007 to 5th February 2011 after he was refused re-entry to the country again. The Guardian claimed that the expulsion was because Harding had released critical articles related to Russia.
However, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that the problem arose because Luke’s visa had expired. But the journalist claimed that he had applied for a visa extension and to stay in the country until May.
A short term visa was granted but he wouldn’t be re-admitted to the country and even Harding decided no to seek any further extension. He returned to the United Kingdom in February.
