The 55-year-old actor starred as the leading character in the 1999 Television movie RKO 281 in which he played Orson Welles, an actor, director, writer, and producer. Isaac Liev Schreiber was born in San Francisco, California, to Heather Schreiber and Tell Carroll on October 4, 1967. His father was also a stage actor and director.

Schreiber is half Jewish from his mother’s side but practices Christianity. His maternal grandfather had moved to the United States from Ukraine and had a major influence in Liev’s upbringing, teaching him to play the cello.

Liev had a troubled childhood as his mother was a drug addict, and upon being confronted by his father, she would take off taking Liev with him. Heather kept traveling between various states with a one-year-old Liev in order to escape from the trail by Tell and private detectives.

Tell finally found Liev when he was four years old in an upstate New York commune and immediately divorced his father. However, despite her actions, Liev’s mother won the custody of Liev.

Schreiber attended Friends Seminary and graduated high school and later attended Hampshire College in Amherst, where he received his acting training.
