DC comics’ live adaption movie Joker has hit its’ billionaire milestone. It is the first R-rated Hollywood movie to earn more than $1.5 billion.
Created under the direction of Todd Philips, Joker has crossed over $1 billion on Friday, 15 November 2019.

The $62.5 million budgeted movie grossed $93.5 million in its’ opening week, setting the record of the biggest October debut ever in the entertainment world.
Eventually, on the second weekend, the 2019 American psychological thriller film made $13 million. Likewise, on the Columbus Day Weekend, it grossed the box office collection of $64 million.
In the time interval of October 4 to October 6, Joker earned $96.2 million.

The movie starring Joaquin Phoenix, Bryan Callen, and Zazie Beetz garnered significant backlash and hype amidst the publicity and release.
DC’s superhero titled movie Joker ranks on 7th position of the biggest Hollywood movie at the 2019 box office collection, after a blockbuster film like Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame ($2.8 billion) and Disney’s The Lion King ($1.6 billion), both distributed by Walt Disney.
Joker took over the position by beating Ryan Reynolds’s Deadpool franchise (Deadpool=$788 million & Deadpool 2=$782 million).
“The role of an evil comic-book clown played by Phoenix turned out to be a grimy and relentlessly downbeat fable. … Joker is a bad movie, yes: It’s predictable, cliched, deeply derivative of other, better movies, and overwritten to the point of self-parody.” One of North America’s highest-profile critics Dana Stevens acknowledged.

The reporter who covered Harvey Weinstein’s story, Hollywood Reporter’s Tatiana Siegal, tweeted: “I’m throwing in my take on JOKER here too. Brilliant performance by Joaquin/amazing craftsmanship but perhaps the most depressing film I’ve ever seen. Unrelenting nihilism. The utter absence of hope. Humorless & lacking empathy.”
