In 2011, Roden landed her biggest role to date as the teen banshee, Lydia Martin, in the MTV supernatural teen drama series, Teen Wolf. She joined the main cast along with Tyler Posey, Dylan O’Brien, Tyler Hoechlin, and Shelley Hennig.

For her performance, Roden won a Teen Choice Award and a Young Hollywood Award.

After the show ended in 2017, Roden landed a part in another horror show when she was signed on as the lead for the third season of the Syfy anthology horror series, Channel Zero.

Titled “Butcher’s Block“, the third season explores the online horror phenomenon, “creepypasta”, and besides Roden, starred Rutger Hauer in one of his final television roles.

Roden also starred in the episode “Black Stockings” in the first season of the Amazon Video anthology horror series, Lore. She portrayed Bridget Cleary, an Irish woman who was murdered by her husband in 1895.

She also starred in the 2019 made-for-TV dramedy movie, Jane the Novela — a spin-off of The CW telenovela, Jane the Virgin.

She is set to star in the upcoming sequel to 2017’s psychological thriller Escape Room, Escape Room 2, which is aiming for a New Year’s Day 2021 premiere.

Roden went to the all-girls private Hockaday School in Dallas, Texas. After she graduated in 2005, she enrolled at the molecular biology program at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), but once her career began gaining traction, she changed majors to women studies.
