Harold Ramis was born Harold Allen Ramis on November 21, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, the United States.
His father, Nathan Ramis was the owner of the Ace Food & Liquor Mart, while the mother was Ruth Ramis (née Cokee). The late actor had a brother, Steve Ramis.

Harold attended Stephen K. Hayt Elementary School and Nicholas Senn High School. Later, he graduated from Washington University in 1966.
After that, for several years, he served in a mental institution in St. Louis. About his work experience just before his films and series, he stated that it
…prepared me well for when I went out to Hollywood to work with actors. People laugh when I say that, but it was actually very good training. And not just with actors; it was good training for just living in the world. It’s knowing how to deal with people who might be reacting in a way that’s connected to anxiety or grief or fear or rage. Father of Four Kids
6 feet 2 inches tall Ramis was married to Erica Mann on May 7, 1989. The couple shares two children, Julian Arthur Ramis, Violet Ramis, and Daniel Hayes Ramis. The duo later, separated on February 24, 2014 after his demise.

Prior to Mann, Harold exchanged wedding vows with Anne Ramis on July 2, 1967. The pair also welcomed a child, Mollie Israel. The couple divorced on March 27, 1984.
Cause Behind His Death
Caddyshack director Harold Ramis was 69 at the time of his death. On February 24, 2014, he died because of complications of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis at his house on Chicago’s North Shore.
After his expiry, Ramis was cremated at Shalom Memorial Park located in Arlington Heights, Cook Country, Illinois.
