Dantas began his career as a singer in 1997 as a vocalist and songwriter for the rock band Mulher do Padre until 2005. The following year, Emilio was invited to become the lead singer of the band Som da Rua after the death of their original lead singer Lio Mariz.
During the time, Emilio auditioned for the musical Filhos do Brasil and eventually began his acting. Dantas performed theater for four years, where he acted in the play entitled Aldeia dos Ventos and Eu Eu Moro, Commemorate.
