What Took Him To Take The Right Step?

After he graduated from Central Missouri State University with a bachelor’s degree in business, he joined Wagner Electric in 1974.

He left the company in 1975. He started serving as a sales representative at the Missouri Pacific Railroad Company. In 1979, he went to Federal Express and was named salesman of the year in 1981.

During the time, he received an ice bucket with his initials engraved on it. In an interview, he said, “that bucket helped me to be what I am Now.”

He recalled the moment and stated, “This was a defining moment. I asked myself, Is this what I want out of life?”

In 1984, David Steward left FedEx.

…Other African-American Billionaires

Indeed, it is not easy to become a billionaire. And, as Celebrity Net Worth reported, the unfortunate fact is that it is even harder to become one if you’re black.

According to the tabloids, the median fortune of black families has not grown since 1992. While the median wealth of white families has multiplied by $50 thousand, it is just another example of the wide gap between the two races; black and white.
