Khachaturov started his career as a banker and but later became an economist in a credit organization. Then he was appointed as the director at Inpexservice LLP. After this, he signed an employment contract with the Marine Joint-Stock Bank.
His future plans included venturing into securities trading. He bought a lot of bonds at the same time that could be secondarily sold in the secondary market.
He heavily invested in stocks and bonds from the money he had earned. In 1997 the stocks he bought drastically failed him and all of his money was lost.
