He was born as Dana Thomas Carvey on 2nd June 1955 in Missoula, Montana in the United States to mother Billie Dahl Cravey and father Bud Carvey. He has a brother named Brad Carvey.
He studied at the Tierra Linda Junior High and then attended Carlmont High School. He also studied at the College of San Mateo and received his bachelor’s degree in broadcast communications from San Francisco State University.
