Walken is perhaps one of the best-known actors in the world with a distinct voice, speech pattern, and acting style.

His performances have ranged from sketch comedy on SNL to intense dramatic performances on films like The Deer Hunter (starring alongside Robert De Niro) for which he won an Oscar.

Most of his performances, be it comedic or dramatic have been iconic. In fact, even his cameos are considered legendary including the one he made on the now-classic Pulp Fiction. Some of his early revered performances include Duane in Annie Hall, the Diane Keaton and Woody Allen film.

Quentin Tarantino declared that the star’s appearance in the ‘Sicilian Scene’ was one of his proudest moments in show business.

Many of his peers also consider him an icon, as a matter of fact, Johnny Depp, a film legend in his own right said that he starred in Nick of Time because he wanted to work with Walken.

In similar fashion, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, Colin Farrell, Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DiCaprio, etc. have also been vocal of their appreciation of the actor.

His appearance on the SNL sketch “More Cowbell” is considered comedy gold and has spawned numerous sub-sketches. He also made the phrase ‘it needs more cowbell’ popular.

Walken has also made a lot of other appearances on SNL which are in and of themselves iconic.

Involvement In The Natalie Wood Death Case

Walken was one of the last people to see Natalie Wood, who drowned near the yacht, Splendour, on November 29, 1981.

Christopher Walken and Wood’s then-husband Robert Wagner were on board the yacht. At first, the death was deemed accidental but later the case was reopened in 2011, Christopher has commented on the death saying

“I don’t know what happened. She slipped and fell in the water. I was in bed then. It was a terrible thing. “Look, we’re in a conversation I won’t have. It’s a f***ing bore. What happened that night only she knows, because she was alone,”

The star said that the yacht was slippery and she might’ve fallen over in a complete accident. The police have clarified that Walken was not a suspect in the case. In June 2012, the cause of death was later changed to undetermined.

Over the years Walken has passionately supported various charities among which WhyHunger and Best Friends Animal Society have been helped passionately by the actor.
