In an unrelated incident, McHenry was permanently let go from ESPN after four years as part of the April 27, 2017 layoffs that saw over a hundred employees lose their job.

Brittany May McHenry was born on May 28, 1986, in Mount Holly, New Jersey, the daughter of an Air Force Lieutenant colonel.

The 36-year-old grew up in Satellite Beach, Florida, where she attended Satellite High School. She was a varsity starter for her high school’s women’s soccer team.

After her graduation in 2004, McHenry attended Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, where she continued to play collegiate soccer for the Stetson Hatters as a mid-fielder. She also dabbled in modeling and was signed to the Wilhelmina Models agency.
