Tauheed Epps, professionally known as 2 Chainz (formerly known as Tity Boi ), is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and media personality widely popular for his debut album Based on a T.R.U. Story which was released in 2012.

He gained his initial recognition for being the one-half of the Southern hip hop duo Playaz Circle alongside fellow rapper Earl “Dolla Boy” Conyers. Chainz released his second album B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time in September 2013 with lead singles Feds Watching and Used 2. Some of his other hit singles are Bounce, What Happened, Girl’s Best Friend, and Rule the World.

How Did Tauheed Begin His Musical Career?

Following his university graduation, Tauheed formed the hip-hop duo Playaz Circle with his high school friend Earl Conyers. He took Tity Boi as his stage name while Earl took Dolla Boy.

The duo released their independent album titled United We Stand, United We Fall in 2002. Shortly after the release, they were introduced to fellow Atlanta rapper Ludacris after he moved to their College Park Apartment.

Ludacris soon became popular and requested Epps to join his newly formed record label Disturbing Tha Peace. Tauheed agreed to join the record label; however, Conyers did not officially join the label until his mother regained her health the following year.

The duo released their debut album entitled Supply & Demand on 30th October 2007 with lead single Duffle Bag Boy featuring fellow rapper Lil Wayne.

They released their second album entitled Flight 360: The Takeoff on 29th September 2009. In 2010, Epps left the record label to start his solo career.

Following his departure from Disturbing Tha Peace, he changed his stage name to 2 Chains as he perceived it to be more family-friendly. Shortly afterward, he released his first mixtape titled T.R.U. REALigion, which peaked at no. 58 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

He released his studio album entitled Based on a T.R.U. Story on 14th August 2012 with lead single No Lie featuring Canadian rapper Drake.

His debut album peaked at no.1 on the US Billboard 200, selling 147,000 copies in its first week. The album sold 623 thousand copies altogether, earning him $627,000. For the album, he was nominated for three Grammy Award including Bes Rap Album.

He released his second album B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time on 10th September 2013 with featured guest appearances from fellow artists including Pharrell Williams, Lil Wayne, Fergie, T-Pain, Mase, and Lloyd.

The album debuted at no. three on the US Billboard 200 and no.2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums selling 63,000 copies in its first week. B.O.A.T.S. sold altogether 221 thousand copies earning $223,000.

Chainz is all set to release his sixth studio album entitled No Face, No Case in 2020.

Apart from music, Chainz launched a line of hoodies called CEO Millionaires or Create Every opportunity Millionaires in October 2016. He also has his own line of sweaters called Dabbing Sweaters.

As per the Atlanta Hawks, he acquired a minority ownership stake in the team’s NBA G League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks, on 10th May 2019.

2 Chainz also owned a 1,400 square-foot three-story Mediterranean house built-in 1986. The house featured 3-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom, a den, and a studio. He purchased the home for $2.45 million and sold it for $2.5 million.

When Was Epps Born?  

Tauheed Epps was born on 12th September 1977 in College Park, Georgia, the United States of America. Epps comes from Afro-American descent and is American as per his nationality.

He went to North Clayton High School, where he played basketball. He then attended Alabama State University on a scholarship and played basketball for the college team from 1995 to 1997.
